Did you know that the C.A.R.E. Coalition also sponsors a Youth C.A.R.E. Coalition Club at Carbon High School? This incredible group of students is passionate about leadership, service, and making a difference in our community—and in January, a handful of them had the opportunity to represent Carbon County at Youth Capitol Hill Day in Salt Lake City.

During the trip, students toured the Utah State Capitol and met with Senator David Hinkins and Representative Christine Watkins. Both leaders generously took time out of their busy schedules to speak with the students, answer thoughtful questions, and share insight into current policy issues affecting Utah. It was a valuable opportunity for our youth to see firsthand how the legislative process works and to engage directly with their elected officials.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting Governor Spencer Cox. Students had the chance to hear about his key priorities for the state and the proactive steps being taken to address important challenges facing Utah communities.

The experience was both inspiring and empowering for everyone who attended. Opportunities like Youth Capitol Hill Day help our students develop confidence, civic awareness, and a deeper understanding of how they can play a role in shaping the future. We are incredibly proud of our Youth C.A.R.E. Coalition members and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to make.
