We have been busy in the community over the past few months! From empowering our local youth to teaming up with first responders, our C.A.R.E. Coalition members, partners, and volunteers have been working hard to create safe, supportive, and connected spaces across Carbon County.

Here is a look back at our biggest highlights, recent milestones, and what’s coming up next!

Springing Into Action: April & May Highlights

Take Back Day with Carbon & Emery Opioid & Substance Use Coalition

In April, we kicked off our spring efforts by participating in Take Back Day in partnership with USU Extension, providing a safe, easy way for community members to dispose of unused or expired medications to keep our homes and environment safe.

Youth C.A.R.E. Coalition Prevention Conference

To wrap up the school year, our Youth C.A.R.E. Coalition hosted their end-of-year prevention conference with around 130 youth in attendance! The students worked hard to secure incredible local presenters who donated their time to educate and inspire:

  • Keynote & Substance Misuse Prevention: Ryan Farnworth

  • Positive Words: Kari Richardson

  • Guided Meditation: Trish Anderson

  • Healthy Boundaries & Relationship Skills: Eric Hansen

  • Anti-Bullying: Cami Carlson

Graduation Celebrations & NOVA Program

May was all about celebrating our students. We were proud to support Graduation Spectacular, an incredible night put together by a community board dedicated to keeping our high school students safe. Additionally, our dedicated local law enforcement officers wrapped up their NOVA program with our 5th graders, hosting special graduation celebrations at their respective schools!

"Spring Into Fun" in East Carbon

At the beginning of May, we brought families together for our "Spring Into Fun" event in East Carbon. Attendees enjoyed a free dinner alongside an interactive Bike Rodeo, where kids learned road sign safety, accident prevention, and skill-building. A local bike mechanic even showed kids basic bike maintenance so they know how to care for their rides! The frisbee golf course was also open to participants! We were able to give away bikes and helmets to event participants!

Thank you to our C.A.R.E Coalition partners that made this event a success!

Summer Skill-Building: June & July

Bryce Canyon Prevention Summits

In June, we focused on training and statewide networking. We took community coalition members to the Bryce Canyon Prevention Summit to learn about effective evaluation, sustainability, and core coalition skills.

We were equally excited to take 7 Youth CARE Coalition members to the Youth Bryce Prevention Summit! They gained valuable leadership and prevention skills that they are ready to bring back to boost our local efforts this coming school year.

CADCA Mid-Year Training

In July, the Four Corners Community Behavioral Health Prevention Team attended the national CADCA Mid-Year Training. Over five days, our team participated in breakout sessions with prevention experts from across the USA, bringing home valuable insights and strategies for Carbon County.

Chalk Fight with First Responders

Fresh off our CADCA training, the CARE Coalition hit the ground running with a summer favorite in Wellington: our Chalk Fight with First Responders! We had 80 to 100 community members join local first responders from across the county for an evening of messy fun, family bonding, and trust-building.

Rock the Pool and Castleview Kid's Day

Community Connections: August

Carbon County Search and Rescue Demolition Derby

In August, we set up at the popular Demolition Derby to connect directly with community members, hand out resources, and share the mission of the CARE Coalition with attendees.

Rock the Pool & Castleview Kid's Day

We were thrilled to partner with our community at both Rock the Pool and Castleview Kid’s Day! These events provided fantastic opportunities to connect directly with local families, share resources, and inform the public about the mission of the C.A.R.E. Coalition. Being out in the community alongside our partners is always a highlight of our summer.

Carbon Heart and Character Award

Throughout these busy months, we’ve continued supporting the Carbon Heart & Character Award alongside the Carbon County Commissioners. Each month, a deserving community member is recognized at the commissioners' meeting.

💡 Make a Nomination: Recipients are nominated by community members just like you! If you know someone who demonstrates outstanding character and heart, visit our website to fill out a quick nomination form today.

Looking Ahead: Mark Your Calendars!

We are thrilled to announce that one of our favorite traditions is returning! Join us for C.A.R.E. Family Field Day:

  • Time: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM
