The CARE Coalition recently had the opportunity to attend Family Night at Carbon High School. It was a great evening filled with meaningful conversations, community connection, and a shared commitment to supporting the well-being of our youth.

Throughout the evening, representatives from the coalition spoke with families about our mission and the work we do here in Carbon County. Our goal is simple but important: to better understand the challenges facing our youth and to use that knowledge to implement evidence-based prevention strategies. Family Night provided the perfect setting to connect directly with parents and guardians who play such a vital role in their children’s lives.

One of the key topics we discussed was the SHARP Survey, which is the School Health and Risk Prevention Survey. The SHARP Survey is an important tool used to gather data about the issues impacting youth in Carbon County today. It helps identify trends related to health, safety, and risk behaviors so that communities can respond with informed, targeted solutions. We were grateful for the opportunity to answer parents’ questions and explain how the coalition uses SHARP data.

It’s important for families to know that the SHARP Survey is completely anonymous and voluntary. Student privacy is protected, and individual responses are never linked back to students. Parent permission slips will be included in upcoming school-year registration packets. If permission slips are signed and returned, students will have the opportunity to participate in the survey in the fall of 2026. We appreciate everyone who took the time to stop by, ask questions, and learn more about the coalition’s work.

If you would like to learn more about the CARE Coalition or the SHARP Survey, we encourage you to reach out. Together, we can continue working toward a healthier, safer future for our youth.
