On February 18, the C.A.R.E. Coalition, in partnership with the Carbon County Commissioners Office, proudly presented the very first Carbon County Heart & Character Award. This special event marked an incredible milestone for our community as we gathered to recognize individuals who truly embody the spirit of service, compassion, and integrity in Carbon County.

February's nominees were honored for their remarkable impact:

  • Heidi Jewkes

  • Jimmy Jewkes

  • Telisse Martak

  • Christy Engar

Each recipient has demonstrated what it means to lead with heart and live with character. Through their dedication, kindness, and commitment to others, they have made a lasting difference in the lives of those around them. It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate these individuals and highlight the positive influence they have within our county.

The Carbon County Heart & Character Award was created to recognize both youth and adults who exemplify strong values, selfless service, and a genuine commitment to improving our community. One of the most meaningful aspects of this award is that any Carbon County resident can nominate another resident.

That means you have the power to help shine a light on someone who is making a difference — whether it’s a young leader stepping up in their school, a neighbor always willing to lend a hand, or a community member quietly serving behind the scenes.

Submit a Nomination

Do you know someone who exemplifies heart and character?

We encourage you to visit the “Heart & Character Award” tab on our website to submit a nomination. By taking a few moments to nominate someone deserving, you help us continue building a culture that recognizes kindness, leadership, and service throughout Carbon County.
